Welcome to Kit Homes Nation-wide

Our kit homes are designed for the Australian lifestyle. They are great for entertaining with spacious open plan living and outdoor areas and decks. From North Queensland down to Tasmania, our homes can be adapted to suit. For those living in regions that are prone to cyclones, we also offer the option to upgrade to a cyclonic kit which can withstand category 2 rated cyclones. We have a large range of modern designs and have a team that provides ongoing customer Kit Homesservice and after sales support. While the kit home designs can be modified to suit your personal requirements, you also have the option to design your own home. In fact a large number of our clients choose to modify the plans to suit their land size and budget.

Owner building your own kit home is a great way to further save a considerable amount of money on building your own kit home. Becoming an owner builder is not as daunting as it may first appear and generally only involves doing a one or two day owner builder's course. Once you have your owner builder's permit you can then choose to simply manage the project or you may choose to also do some on-site work yourself. The decision is up to you. Why build a steel kit home?

  • Kit Homes are quicker to build than conventional homes. This is mainly due to all the materials being shipped together and all components numbered and ready to install using the step by step instruction manual.
  • Choosing to build your home as an owner builder will enable you to make even more cost savings as this will effectively cut out the 20 percent builder's commission that you would normally be required to pay.
  • Will not warp - Steel frame kit homes will not warp, bow or rot resulting in a high quality home that will last for many years.
  • Steel framing will not burn and therefore will not contribute to a fire. This gives you more time to escape the fire.
  • No load bearing walls - Steel lends itself to longer spans therefore negating the need for load bearing walls. The result is the ability for more open living spaces.
  • Termite Proof - Termites don't destroy steel thus eliminating any structural damage that they might have caused.

Newsletter - So You Want To Be An Owner Builder?

When and why do I need an Owner Builder Permit? When the total value of your project exceeds $11,000 you are required to complete an Owner Builder Course (This rule applies to Queensland and may vary from state to state).

What constitutes the total value of a project? In the calculations you must include the cost of all building materials and components plus the cost of having a licensed contractor carry out the labour content. More...
