COUNCIL INSPECTIONS

Step 9. Council inspection.

After preparation you are required to confirm that your efforts so far meet council regulation prior to concreting. You will also need to check to your own satisfaction that issues such as drainage and termite protection have been given proper attention.

Council Inspections

Council inspections must be called before any concrete is poured in footings, stump holes or concrete slabs. It is very important to have on site council approved plans (marked "builders copy"), specifications and the soil engineers report (if required).

NB: If these plans etc are not on site when an inspection is called, the council inspector will not pass the job - and you will have to re-book another inspection. This will only cause delays on site.

Footing Stage

Inspection of the footings and pier holes prior to having concrete poured.

Includes a site inspection by certifier and a footing / pier inspection by certifier or engineer. Site inspection and footing / pier inspection can be done at same time by the certifier.

Inspections will include checking for things such as :

• Site conditions, footing / piers excavation size
• Footing / pier holes are clean and dry.
• Reinforcement

WORK CAN NOT CONTINUE TO THE NEXT STAGE UNLESS A FORM 16 STAGE CERTIFICATE HAS BEEN ISSUED BY THE CERTIFIER.

Slab Stage

Inspection of slab preparation and steel work before pouring the concrete slab.

Can be done by an engineer, but notification will need to be given to the certifier.

Inspections will include checking for things such as:

• Reinforcement - steel placement
• Moisture barriers
• Slab heights and thickenings
• and approved termite system installed

WORK CAN NOT CONTINUE TO THE NEXT STAGE UNLESS A FORM 16 STAGE CERTIFICATE HAS BEEN ISSUED BY THE CERTIFIER.
